## Gatekeeper

Every release is signed with our Developer ID (Lowside Labs, Inc.) and notarized by Apple. The first time you open it, macOS asks whether to open an app downloaded from the internet. Click Open.

## Updates

Founder Hud checks for updates with Sparkle, which reads the list of releases from downloads.founderhud.com. When there is a new version, Founder Hud downloads it and installs it with no click, between calls, once you have been away from the Mac for ten minutes. While it waits, a dot shows on your face at the top right of the panel: click your face and choose Restart to update to install it now. During a call, Restart to update is dimmed, and it comes back 20 seconds after the call ends.

To check now, right-click the menu bar icon and choose Check for updates, or use the button at the bottom of Settings.

Each release keeps the same signature, so the permissions you granted carry over to every update.
