# Presence

Presence tells you who's free to talk before you call. Every teammate is in one of four states.

| State | Dot | Means |
| --------- | ------ | ----------------------------------------------------- |
| Online | Green | Founder Hud is open and they've used their Mac lately |
| Away | Gray | No keyboard or mouse input for 5 minutes |
| In a call | Purple | They're in a call |
| Offline | None | Founder Hud isn't connected |

Away turns on by itself after 5 minutes without input, including while the screen is locked. It turns off once you use the keyboard or mouse again.

## In the menu bar

The menu bar icon shows up to 3 teammates' photos; with more, 2 photos and a count such as +2. People in a call come first, then who's online, then who's away. During your own call, the photos are the people in it.

After the photos, the icon shows a speech bubble when you have unread chat, or else a green phone while you're in a call or a call is ringing. The icon keeps its width, so the menu bar items next to it don't move.

To keep faces out of the menu bar, turn off Settings > General > Menu bar > Show teammates in the menu bar. A single green dot shows when anyone is online.

## On People and Home

People, the page the panel opens on, lists the calls teammates are in, each with Ask to join, then who's online, each with a Call button, then who's away or offline. Type to filter the list, and press Return to call the selected person.

Home shows everyone as a tile with their photo, their dot and a status line, such as "Away 12 min" or "In a call with Sam". Home is a tile on the Workspace: click the Workspace button at the top right of the panel.

## Set a status

Click your face at the top right of the panel and choose Set status, which shows your status under it once you set one. You can also right-click your own tile on Home and choose Set status. A status is an emoji and a short text, with an optional time when it clears.

## Share what you're working on

Turn on Settings > Privacy > What your team sees > Share what I'm working on, and your tile shows your front app, plus the repository and branch while a developer tool is in front. The hub deletes it when you disconnect.
