Permissions

macOS asks before an app can use your microphone, camera or screen. Founder Hud asks for each permission when you first use the feature that needs it. The welcome lists them all, and nothing there is required to continue. Settings > Privacy > Permissions lists them later, each with where it stands and a button that asks for it.

What Founder Hud asks for

PermissionWhat it's forWhen macOS asks
MicrophoneTalking in callsWhen you join your first call
NotificationsIncoming calls while your screen is locked, missed calls, messagesAfter the welcome
Screen RecordingHiding other apps when you share a whole displayYou turn it on in System Settings
CameraShowing your face in callsWhen you turn on Camera in a call
Speech RecognitionTranscribing your side of a call, on your MacWhen you turn on transcripts
AccessibilityLetting a teammate control your Mac, only when you allow itYou turn it on in System Settings

Microphone, Screen Recording and Notifications are the ones most people need. The others are for one feature each.

Microphone

Founder Hud needs the microphone to put you in a call. If it's off, joining a call shows "Founder Hud can't use the microphone" with a button that opens System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone. Turn on Founder Hud there, then call again.

Screen Recording

You don't need Screen Recording to share. When you share, you pick a window, an app or a display in the macOS picker, and macOS gives Founder Hud only what you picked.

Screen Recording is for one thing: hiding other apps, such as your password manager and Messages, when you share a whole display. Without it, those apps show in your share, and Settings > Screen sharing > Hidden apps says so. See Share your screen.

Accessibility

Accessibility lets Founder Hud move the mouse and type on your Mac for a teammate during remote control. Founder Hud posts no input until you click Allow on a teammate's request. Turn it on in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility. If control still fails after that, quit and reopen Founder Hud.

Speech Recognition

Your Mac makes transcripts with Apple's speech recognition. Founder Hud asks for this permission the first time you turn on transcripts in a call. See Transcripts and notes.

After an update

Every release keeps the same app ID and signature, so macOS keeps your permissions across updates. If a permission still shows as on but its feature fails, see Troubleshooting.
